I used this to fly to Thailand and back for completely FREE.
“Did you pay upfront for the flights, Liam?”
Yes, I sure did.
“So, how is it FREE then?”
I made enough money in Thailand to cover the whole return flight fee, and I still earn more money to this day.
“Is this one of those get rich quick type posts?”
Definitely not.
“Am I losing money posting my videos to social media?”
Yes.
“Are you going to tell me how?”
One second, let me make a tea first…
How I thought of it.
I’ve sold several videos to Jukin media and Viralhog, nothing special, just interesting and slightly funny videos.
You know those types of videos you see on Facebook pages?
Yeah, those.
Up until that point, the videos were filmed around London.
It gave me an idea, packing our (my fiancé & me) backpacks to spend 6 or so months in Thailand, I decided to chuck my iPad in my bag.
My idea was to use it for photos, booking hotels, (Yes, I prefer hotels over hostels, fight me) uploading photos to Facebook so my mates back home would get jealous and organising bare-knuckle fistfights.
Just kidding, I have no mates.
How I did it
You know when something cool happens, and you whip out your phone, upload it to your social media, and after a few likes, it gets archived?
One day that video pops up as a memory, and you’re like…
“Ah, I miss this so much, take me back” whilst you sit hunched over your desk typing an email wondering what you’re doing at the weekend?
No? 👀
Well, it turns out that TV companies and social media pages love this kind of content, so much so that with the correct licensing they are willing to pay for it!
How much money can I earn, and do you have proof?
“Hold up, wait a minute, those are actual payments received to use your videos?
Nope.
Those are only 4 payments out of 17 for rights to use only 1 video of mine.
“Wow, I never knew this, what kind of video was it?”

How you can do it.
I was about to start this paragraph with something like…
“Follow these simple steps to make more money!”
Then I read that like a get rich quick scheme and thought that you, the sole reader of this, deserves better than that.
I read the other day that The Canary Islands are named after dogs, not birds.
“Okay Liam, get to the point, I read this far so tell me what I need to do ASAP or I’ll close this tab and forget about you!”
What you will need:
- 1 camera
You will need to have the ability to record with said camera.
“But Liam, how can I find those situations, isn’t it just right time right place?”
No.
You have money floating all around you, every day.
“Too vague, Liam, damn!”

What you need to do
Record!
Don’t upload it to social media until you’ve been rejected by the following businesses like a 17-year-old trying to use a fake ID to sneak into a nightclub.
Doorman holding your ID: “Okay, tell me your date of birth?”
Me: “I forgot it. I’m drunk mate, look at my wobbly head!”
SEND IT…
“Where can I send it?”
- Viralhog
- Jukin media
What will happen?
One of two things will happen, they will say yes, or they will say no.
I send videos all the time.
Viralhog licenses some and offers you a 60% share of profits.
Jukin media usually offer to buy the full rights to the video, I’ve sold videos this way a few times, your mileage may vary.
You need to know:
- Make sure you can prove you have full rights to use the video.
- Please DO NOT post it anywhere online before submitting.
- Please take a look through the buy section on Viralhog to get an idea of what videos they are looking for. (hint: animals being funny to do well)
- You will have to sign a contract, enter tax and payment information.
- I think I forgot something, ah well, that’s what the comments are for.
